Study visas for Indonesia, from a short course to a degree.
A short course, a language class or a benchmarking visit fits a 60-day C visa. A place at an institution needs a stay permit of a year or more, and the institution sponsors it. The letter from the school tells you which.

Who this is for
The letter from the institution decides the visa. A course of a few weeks is a visit visa. A place at a school is a stay permit, sponsored by the school.
A degree or a school place
E30A and E30B, on a letter of acceptance that states the period of study. One, two or four years, and family who qualify can join.
A non-degree programme
E30 covers a programme at a non-degree institution, for one or two years, on the same kind of acceptance letter.
A short course, training or language class
C9, C9A and C9B: 60 days, extendable, on proof of enrolment. A benchmarking visit also fits here.
A research project
E29 needs an Indonesian research institution as sponsor and a permit from BRIN before immigration sees the file. The BRIN permit takes the longest.
What we do, and what we do not.
Both lists go into your written scope, word for word.
What we do
- Name the visa that matches your activity
- Check your documents against the current requirement
- Prepare and lodge the application
- Track it and tell you when its status changes
- Handle extensions and renewals for the visas we lodge
- Work in English, Bahasa Indonesia or Chinese
- Refund our service fee if an application we filed is refused
What we do not do
- Guarantee an outcome. Immigration decides
- Give legal advice. If your case needs a lawyer, we tell you
- Act as a government agency. You can apply directly through official channels
- Issue documents we are not authorised to issue
- Advise on tax residency or company accounting
Four steps, each one in writing.
- 01
Initial assessment
Send your nationality, what you will do in Indonesia and your dates. We reply with the visa that fits. If the case is outside what we handle, the reply says so. The first assessment is free.
- 02
Scope and price in writing
Before you pay, you get the document list, the price for your term, a timing estimate with its assumptions, and what we will not do.
- 03
Document check
We check each document against the current requirement for your visa. You get a list of anything to fix, and you fix it before we lodge.
- 04
Lodging and follow up
We lodge the application and track it. If immigration asks for more, we send you the request and what to do about it. Extensions and renewals go through the same contact.
What you will usually need
For a stay permit the institution is the sponsor, so half the file comes from them. A short course needs proof of enrolment and a sponsor in Indonesia.
Applicant
- Passport valid for at least six months
- Recent colour photograph
- Proof of funds for the period of study, and a CV and itinerary for a stay permit
The institution
- Letter of acceptance stating the period of study, or proof of enrolment for a short course
- Guarantee letter from the institution or the Indonesian sponsor
- The sponsor's letterhead, stamp and immigration e-visa account
Research only
- Research permit from BRIN
- Guarantee letter from the sponsoring research institution
Each visa's page has its exact list. We check it against the current requirement before we lodge.
Timing
A stay permit has two clocks, and the institution's is usually the slower. For a term that starts in September, open the file in June.
Estimates assume a complete file. If the institution stalls, we send you a revised date.
Study questions
- What is the difference between E30A and E30B?
- Immigration issues both to students with a letter of acceptance, and the source document names them the same way. Tell us the institution and the programme and we name the code.
- Can I work while studying?
- A student visa is not a work visa. Some activities can be reported to immigration and allowed alongside study. Paid employment is not one of them. Ask before you accept anything.
- Can my family come with me?
- On a stay permit, family who qualify can join on their own E31 visas, with you as sponsor. On a short course visa, they travel on their own visit visas.
- How long is a term, and can it be extended?
- One, two or four years on the student visas, one or two on the non-degree visa, and each term has its own price. Extensions are done inside Indonesia with their own processing time.
- What does it cost in total?
- The price of the visa on its page for the term you choose, plus any third party costs named in your quote.
Tell us what you are coming here to do.
Send your nationality, your plan and rough dates. We reply with the visa, its price and the documents it needs. The first assessment is free.
